My first day of school at ISM was very memorable; it was a combination of anxiety, excitement and curiosity.
The campus was very different from my old school where classes were all located on the ground floor. In fact, in my old school, there was no other floor. But at ISM, for the first few days, I realized that getting from one class to another was no less than exercise. Often times, I found myself lost in the huge, maze-like building. I was relieved when I learned that I was not alone in that boat. As I met other new juniors, I realized that they too found it hard to master the size of the school.
The difference in size was colossal. Transferring from a high school of sixty students to one of about 800 students was a major change that I had only ever heard of. Experiencing it, however, was a whole different ballgame. This creature of habit was dreading the out-of-place sensation, characteristic of every new student. Even so, what was more extraordinary than this upside-down world was how quickly I was able to adjust. ISM being my sixth school, I was already used to the constant game of push and pull that my education faced. But honestly, this was the fastest I had ever recovered from the shock. The students of ISM were the friendliest, the teachers the most lighthearted and the atmosphere the most welcoming than any I had ever seen.
As the days passed, I found that ISM has a unique way of making new students feel like they are part of the community. After all, with one grade of 200 people, it is not hard to find friends.
