As each year passes, more and more technology becomes integrated with our day-to-day lives, fitting seamlessly into the patterns and details of our routines. However, what’s unique about technology nowadays is that it isn’t limited solely to the area of computing but is also being expanded to aid society in many other aspects, such as health, fashion and organization. While the pieces of wearable technology are not widely available to the public yet, it isn’t hard to imagine a future that depends heavily on these gadgets to replace the inconveniences of our lifestyles.

The list of innovative piece of technology that has been developed recently could last a person an entire day, starting bright and early in the morning. The vibrating alarm clock called the Lark Pro is designed to wake individuals up without alerting others sleeping in their same room. This gadget not only prevents members of the households from distracting each other, but is also able to analyze sleep patterns and wake people up during their lightest sleep cycle (so that it isn’t as dreadful to wake up in the morning).

Additionally, technology these days has not only managed to address currentissues, but also improve our performance levels. The miCoach training shirts, designed by the sportswear company Adidas, aims to analyze people’s exercise routine and give them feedback about how many calories they have burnt in addition to other observations. On a smaller, but just as important, scale, the ISM physical education department  has also invested in heart rate monitors that can directly record the heart rate of an individual and compare these rate to others when doing physical drills. The combination of smartphones and recordable technology, allows the data from each session to be sent to a person’s phone or email for viewing pleasure. As the vice president of Adidas Wearable Sports states, “in the near future, I see this combination of apparel and smartphones working together seamlessly and making wearable tech ubiquitous and part of our daily lives.”

Furthermore, one of the more attainable wearable technologies that has been recently developed is the google glasses, which is designed to be a personal digital assistant. When asked his opinion about the development of this technology, Junior Rohan Tulsiani comments about the unwieldiness of wearable technology, saying  “Why limit the capabilities of a piece of hardware to one device when it is much more efficient with another?” Moreover, Christian Ayala comments, the google glass is “a stepping-stone to something bigger. Like the first iPod it could eventually become so great that it will dwarf the original.”

It is evident that technology nowadays is becoming pervasive, finding a way to enter every aspect of life. However, its not all good news, as these amazing gadgets still have quite a cost when they are released to the public. And so the questions remain: will wearable to become cheaper over the years? And what are the consequences of relying on technology too much? Although technology has become greatly desired over the past few years, most technology in place are still immensely adaptable.
