With the first round of IASAS quickly approaching, and our teams’ season nearing an end, our athletes’ days are filled with endless hours of fitness, practice and matches to fine tune their skills in the lead up to the big tournament. The elements seem to be against them however as the Philippines has been experiencing huge amounts of rain that have led to cancelled practices and postponed matches.  But exactly how great an effect has the bad weather had on the mental and physical preparation of our athletes?

According to Timm Hartel, the soccer team has not missed that many practices due to bad weather although a few of their matches were pushed later into the season, causing “a lot of games [coming] up consecutively”. However tiring these matches may be Timm still manages to focus on the positives, saying that the back to back matches, “prepared [the team] better for IASAS”

The Bearcat spirit and dedication has helped our athletes and teams weather the storm and, as IASAS approaches, we hold high hopes and are grateful that the turbulent weather has not hurt the mentality or preparation of our teams.
