On Wednesday, February 25, ISM welcomed over 100 students from the other 5 IASAS schools (JIS, ISKL, TAS, SAS, and ISB) to share their musical talents at the 2026 IASAS Cultural Convention held over three days.
On the first day, the students from Strings, Band, and Chorus performed their solo performances for the 11 guest adjudicators, accompanied by the piano delegates.
On the second day, the pianists performed their solos for the judges, while the other musicians gathered with their ensembles to perform their octets.
On the last day of the convention, the Strings, Band, and Chorus students performed 10 concert pieces. The strings played “Serenade in C for Strings, Op. 48” by Tchaikovsky while the band played “Bright Lights” by Robert Sheldon, “Heaven’s Light” by Steven Reineke, “In the Forest of the King” by Pierre La Plante, “Overture on Philippine Folk Song,” arranged by Bernard Gree, and transcribed by Arnel Feliciano. The choir sang 5 songs: “Illay Gandangan” by Rodolfo Delarmente, “Ngothando” by Mbuso Ndlovu, “Ubi Caritas” by Old Gjeilo, “Hope Lingers On” by Andrea Ramsey, and “Always Keep this Close” by Zachary Moore.
In each of these three concerts, three professional conductors were invited to ISM to perform with the delegates. The choir has the luxury of performing with Ms. Marla Ringel, the band was conducted by Ms. Sophie Holbrook, while the strings rehearsed with Mr. Gerard Salonga.
Overall, IASAS is a super fun, unforgettable event for every musician and a highly instrumental learning experience!
