PISTA, also called Filipiniana, is occurring on December 1st, 2023. Hosted by the Philippine Cultural Club, the event is a celebration of Filipino culture and the Philippines. Throughout the day there will be special performances, food stalls, a parade, and other events, all of which embody the culture with Filipino music, traditional clothing, food, and more.
Leading up to the day of PISTA, students are able to sign up to participate in the parade as well as buy PISTA merchandise for the day of the event. The parade will be held from 12:20 until 12:45 on the day itself with anyone being able to sign up to participate to walk in it. To sign up, students must add their name to this sheet. To walk in the parade, traditional Filipino clothing like barongs, Filipiniana dresses, or a PISTA merch shirt must be worn.
The PISTA merch shirt is available for purchase in front of the FAT starting Monday, Nov. 20th, until Thursday, Nov. 30th. If this shirt is purchased, it may be worn on December 1st instead of the regular school uniform. These shirts have a custom PISTA design on the front and back, and cost 650 Php per shirt. Along with this, the Philippine Cultural Club is also selling personalized Auro chocolate bars for 300Php. There are two flavors for the chocolate, 42% Milk Chocolate with Banana Chips and Mocha Crunch w/ Plant Based 55% Dark Chocolate.
Any purchase of the PISTA merch will be going towards the Vicky Herrera Scholarship Foundation, a foundation that financially supports scholars to attend ISM.
