ISM recently had a fantastic opportunity to send ten highly talented band students from grades 10 to 12 to participate in the Bangkok International Band Festival, also known as the BIBF. ISM students were asked to sign up and audition in order to be considered part of the group that traveled to the festival, which was held at the International School of Bangkok, and organized by ISB’s high school band teacher, Kentaro Udagawa. The festival had a combined 198 students from 15 different international schools, including four IASAS schools, ISKL, JIS, ISB, and ISM.

The students arrived in Bangkok on Thursday night and the festival began the following day. Abhayan, one of the attendees said that Friday was “the best day musically” , and this was followed up by the Gala Concert on Saturday in which ISM showcased 4 of their concert pieces. This whirlwind of activities allowed students to “grow strong bonds as a band” and was particularly important to sophomore, Piper.

BIBF was an excellent experience for the student musicians, and hopefully there will be many more opportunities for our band students to showcase their efforts and talents for all to see.
