The first week of semester two has already passed and was filled with excitement. On January 8th, the ISM Academic Bowl Club hosted its annual tournament, welcoming eight teams from five schools. Miguel, from ISM Team B, who finished in 5th place, shared his excitement, saying, “It was a lot of fun, and it was a really cool experience.”
Academic Bowl is a competition where teams of five students try to score points by answering trivia questions that cover a wide range of topics, including math, literature, history, pop culture, and more. Reflecting on the event, Zhenzhen, one of the club’s chief organizers, remarked, “Despite many difficulties and struggles in the planning, the event turned out to be quite fruitful, and it’s definitely a step in the right direction for the club.”
As the reigning champions, ISM sent three teams to compete. Team ISM A, consisting of Gael, Zeb, Roshan, Aaron, and Aryaman, clinched first place by defeating Team Faith A in the final and successfully defended their title. In hindsight, Zeb remarked, “I gotta thank my teammates and Oversimplified for the win.”
Academic Bowl is an exciting competition, and the club is open to all interested members. For more details, email Zhenzhen (zhangz@ismanila.org), and congratulations to everyone who participated!
