Teachers are the foundation of our learning journeys, so as students, we must value respect and show appreciation for our faculty members. This week, from October 7-11, the National Honor Society (NHS) has organized a teacher appreciation week to show our care for the faculty at ISM.

NHS has arranged various activities for students and teachers from all parts of the school. Elementary school students have compiled a video of messages for their teachers, and middle school students have used a Padlet to create messages. In high school, the students have written teacher appreciation notes via a Google Form, which will be shared with the teachers on Friday morning during the teacher breakfast hosted by NHS. Furthermore, Operation Smile, a service club and NHS’s service partner, is organizing a fun house, where NHS members will dress up in Halloween costumes to celebrate with the ES and MS students.

“I’m really excited for this year’s teacher appreciation week since it’s our first year incorporating all branches of our student body,” says Trixie, NHS President.

Mr. Lekich, High School English as an Additional Language, says “It’s a great way for teachers to receive feedback from their students, and it works both ways as students can talk about what works for them.”

Ms. Parker, Middle School English, notes, “Teachers usually are very caught up in our work, so seeing these messages from our students makes us feel reassured that we can create a safe learning environment for them.”

This year’s teacher appreciation week has been a great success as the entire school has gotten involved in recognizing our faculty’s hard work. Thank you to the NHS for organizing this wonderful week filled with fun events!
