The Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asian Schools (IASAS) took place from October 16 to October 18, bringing together students from across Southeast Asia for athletic competition and cultural exchange. The first season of IASAS featured football, volleyball, and cross country.
Participating schools included Taipei American School (TAS), Singapore American School (SAS), International School of Bangkok (ISB), International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL), Jakarta Intercultural School (JIS), and International School Manila (ISM). This year, ISM welcomed the football teams, while JIS hosted cross country and volleyball.
In boys’ football, SAS won gold, followed by JIS with silver, and ISM with bronze after defeating ISB. In the girls’ football finals, ISB claimed gold, SAS took silver, and ISM earned bronze once again.
For boys’ volleyball, JIS won gold, while ISM placed sixth. ISB secured first place in girls’ volleyball, while ISM finished fourth.
In cross country, ISM placed sixth in the girls’ division and fifth in the boys’.
Lizzie (10), a member of the ISM girls’ football team, shared, “My experience was amazing, I enjoyed the tournament a lot, and I think hosting it this year was extra special. As I’m new this year, this is my first IASAS, and it really lived up to the hype.”
It was an enjoyable experience for both the athletes playing and students cheering from the stands, creating spirit-filled days, supporting our Bearcats, and welcoming players from different schools. Congratulations to all Season One athletes and good luck to everyone competing in Season Two!
