From October 21 to 23, HS athletes took to the courts, fields, and pool, as Season Two sports tryouts officially began! Running from October 20 to January 30, the second season features basketball, tennis, swimming, rugby, and touch.

For many students, these tryouts were more than just a competition; they were opportunities to represent the school, improve their skills, and experience the thrill of sportsmanship and teamwork. No matter the results, all students learned something, as even the experience of trying out itself was worth remembering.

Coach Pearce, the varsity boys’ rugby coach, shared some advice and words of encouragement. He suggested, “Go out there with confidence, and with an open mind to enjoy it! … Coaches are always looking for people with positive attitudes.”

As for the students, they were equally excited for this opportunity. Esme, a freshman who tried out for touch rugby, commented, “This opportunity means putting yourself out there for a sport you really enjoy, being able to meet other people with that same interest, and hopefully advancing your own skills with them.”

Getting involved in Season Two sports is a great way to stay active, build friendships, and represent your school with pride. Whether students aimed for a team spot or simply wanted to test their limits, tryouts allowed them to see what they were capable of.

Soon enough, whistles will blow and training schedules will begin after the one-week October break. Season Two sports promise competition, connection, and growth alike.
