The Service Learning Council (SLC) has recently reopened its patch applications. Each quarter, any club can apply for the patch through the Service Spotlight form to be recognized by the SLC. After careful selection, one club is chosen, and the club advisor is given three patches. This quarter, the inaugural patch-awarding ceremony will be held on February 18th. The patches are awarded to acknowledge clubs and students who exceed service expectations through leadership, excellence, and measurable impact.
Eligibility for the application includes leading or playing a central role in the planning, coordination, and execution of a school-based service project, leading fundraisers that directly benefit a service partner, or demonstrating a strong understanding of service and advocacy.
The president of the SLC, Manushri, commented on why recognizing these clubs was important. “We hope that this [new initiative] inspires students to pursue their ambitions in service learning and explore the different avenues they can take to make an impact. After all, small acts make big changes.”
Winning the SLC patch is a great honour that celebrates and acknowledges the commitment of Bearcats who went above and beyond in their service club or with their service partners. It is something everyone should aspire towards.
