Next Saturday, December 7th, the Sophomore batch will be hosting their annual Saturday service for Bahay Tuluyan, their service partner. Following the success of last year’s fundraiser, Ballin’ for Bahay, and their inaugural Saturday Service, the 10th graders are now planning another day full of activities, fun, and friendship for the children from Bahay Tuluyan.

Bahay Tuluyan is an organization that protects children’s rights and provides a home to children experiencing abuse. During this Saturday service, 67 children from the organization will be coming to ISM to spend time with our sophomores, make friends, and do some activities on campus that will be led by ISM students.

This event is much anticipated, both by Bahay Tuluyan children and the sophomores themselves. “I’m excited about getting to see the kids I made friends with last year again,” said Ariya, a sophomore council member. This event will also be Christmas-themed, with gingerbread decorating, winter-themed arts and crafts, and general activities like rock climbing and swimming. The day will conclude with a showing of the movie Frozen, for all the students to wind down and get into the holiday spirit.

All grade 10 students are highly encouraged to sign up! It’s a wonderful opportunity to make friends, engage in service, and practice leadership by helping with the activities. “My favorite thing about the last Saturday service was meeting all the kids from Bahay Tuluyan because they were all so friendly and fun to talk to!” said Sophia, a volunteer during last year’s Saturday Service event.

Everyone interested in attending the Saturday service can contact Grade 10 class council members, and the more people who volunteer, the better! For Grade 10 students and teachers who cannot go but are still looking to do some service this holiday season, the Sophomores have also opened a gift drive! All gifts go to the Bahay Tuluyan children, making a huge difference in their holiday spirit. It is a wonderful way to give back to the community!
