On Tuesday, February 4, ISM’s Tri-M Honor Society will hold its annual Jazz Night, with a unique theme of ‘Through the Decades’. The event will run from 5:30 to 7:00 PM and features various soulful performances by ISM’s Jazz Band, Show Choir, and Advanced Dance.
Vedant, a guitarist from Jazz Band, comments on the versatility of this year’s theme, saying that the band has prepared “beautiful slow pieces, as well as classics that will bring joy and happiness” to the audience. Jazz distinguishes itself from other traditional forms of music in rejecting the idea of limitations and boundaries. Its avant-garde nature allows musicians to create improvisational melodies, something the audience will undoubtedly understand at the end of Jazz Night. From spontaneous but upbeat rhythms and vocals to smooth and rippling instrumentals, it will undoubtedly be an evening to treasure.
