From September 19 to 21, season one (S1) athletes trained and competed at schools across the region for Pre-IASAS, also known as Pre-I.
Athletes traveled to the host schools for their respective sports, previewing what it means to be an IASAS athlete by training and bonding with athletes from other IASAS schools, including TAS, ISB, JIS, SAS, and ISKL. For new athletes, it also provided an idea of the travelling and commitment involved in IASAS tournaments.
S1 IASAS sports include volleyball, cross country, and football for both boys and girls, hosted by three different schools for Pre-I.
Cross country runner Sophia (11) expressed her anticipation for this event, sharing, “I’m so excited for Pre-I, because I went to Pre-I last year and it was a really fun experience. It was my very first travelling opportunity for a sport at ISM, but I had a really good time since the course was really fun and challenging, and it had really good views.”
Pre-IASAS offered aspiring IASAS athletes valuable preparation and gave veteran players a highlight before the main event. With the Bearcat athletes returning to Manila, ISM ramps up preparations to host football later this season.
