On October 3rd to 4th, ISM hosted the Model United Nations (MUN) Locals 2025 Conference, bringing together over 200 students from 13 schools across the Philippines to discuss pressing global issues and practice diplomacy, writing, and public speaking.

Participating schools included the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School, British School Manila, Brent International School Manila, Brent International School Subic, Cebu International School, Chinese International School Manila, Faith Academy, German European School Manila, Lycée Français de Manille, Makati Hope Christian School, MGC New Life Christian Academy, Singapore School Manila, Southville International Schools and Colleges, Saint Paul American School Clark, and Xavier School.

Led by Secretaries-General Manushri and Zhenzhen, the conference featured a secretariat team, the dais of nine committees, and a press corps of writers and photographers. Their collective effort helped delegates develop their speaking skills and nurture curiosity.

Delegates stayed in their assigned committee throughout the two-day event. They presented numerous resolutions, challenged speeches with points of information, and sharpened diplomatic debate skills.

On Friday afternoon, the Locals Press Corps gathered for a briefing before heading to their assigned committees to take pictures and write articles about the sessions.

During the closing ceremony, the secretariat and committee daises awarded 24 outstanding delegates who showed exemplary debate skills and excellence in diplomacy and collaboration.

Shahzain, a delegate from General Assembly 6, shared that MUN Locals gave him an  “outlook on [what] three days of intense debating and collaborating would be like. It also introduced me to the complexities as well as some of the benefits of MUN.”

With MUN Locals 2025 now concluded, delegates look forward to the upcoming Seoul MUN Conference in late October and the IASAS MUN Conference in November, eager to bring their newly honed skills to these upcoming events.
