Next week, all high school students will be starting their ICARE trips at their various assigned sites.
Students are divided among metro and provincial sites. Provincial sites include locations in Mariveles, Bataan, two in Subic, and involve work with our various service partners, among them CJ Leaning, Rural Rising, and Upskills. Students with a metro site will be coming home after each day of service. They will be partnered with organizations like Papaya Academy, Project Bantu, RED, Special Olympics, SPECS, Stepping Stones, and Young Focus.
Freshman Esme, who is preparing for her first ICARE, shares that she’s “a little nervous for a four-day trip, but I’m also super excited to go on my first ICARE!” She says she is “looking forward to revisiting the local communities and seeing some of the wildlife up in the mountains,” a sentiment that’s sure to be shared by all students with a site focused on nature and the preservation of the Philippines’ ecosystems.
As the freshmen look forward to their first ICARE, ISM’s seniors look to enjoy their last. Some juniors and seniors are using this opportunity to complete their CAS projects, which are a requirement for the IB diploma.
Overall, high school students are looking forward to ICARE and are excited for it to start this Tuesday!
