Saturday, February 7th. ISM hosted the Manila Student Film Festival – an event celebrating the work of young filmmakers across Manila. About 30 videos were presented and judged over a 2-hour period.
For the event, professional filmmakers from the film industry were invited to judge the competition. Using criteria, they presented an award and prizes to students from each of the 4 age categories: 8-11, 12-15, 16-18, and 19-22 years old.
Amelie, a junior who attended, says that the individual sections created a “wide range of films, and really showcases the talent”.
One of the biggest highlights of the Film Festival was the Q&A session with the judges on filmmaking, a huge opportunity for aspiring creators.
Overall, the Manila Student Film Festival was an eye-opening experience for students who wish to be part of the film industry and an entertaining event for those who enjoy the arts!
